How To Live A Healthy And Balanced Life

Achieving balance in your work and life can be done, as long as you make the effort to design the life you have in mind. You will want to think about several things, including what exactly it is that you want, where you are now in relation to where you would like to go, and what people and resources you will need to make it all happen. Let's explore these concepts further.

The curse that work life balance creates is that it just gives you more of the same. You are still juggling. It doesn't actually remove the problem totally. It doesn't lead to you living your ideal life on your own terms.



In my life, I always sense that there IS actually something like work-life balance when the balance is thrown off! So I am doing okay up until a certain point, but then: life starts to feel out of whack, there is no time to do what I need to do, let alone what I WANT to do; family, social activities, work, they all start to encroach upon me; everything needs to be juggled, relationships seem to get tighter and tighter, work becomes even MORE demanding, I start to cross out weekends to at least have two days to myself, etc etc............It is all too much.

These are little things that you can do to help you in managing work-life balance. You don't really have to make major changes to transform your life and maximize your time and potential.

These are only two examples of the many ways that your body affects your mental state and your life experiences. So when I hear all this talk about "balance" I wonder, what does it actually feel like? How is imbalance expressed in our bodies? How can we bring more equilibrium into our actual reality -- our physical body -- in order to we experience more balance in our lives? Here's a way to experiment with your relationship with your life's obligations and opportunities, as it is reflected in your physical being. website You can do this sitting down, for starters. Close your eyes for a minute and notice your body's position.



Meals together can mean reconnection. Today's hectic, mixed-schedule families mean a lot of us don't sit down for dinner anymore. Try to make a point of having meals with your loved ones as often as possible. If dinner hours are usually work hours for you, then use the weekend mornings as Saturday Pancakes or Sunday Waffles. Eat at your dining room table, not in front of a computer or the TV. If you go out to eat, go to a sit down restaurant where you can have a conversation at the table. Make it a policy not to discuss work; focus instead on topics that are of common interest to everyone at the table.

Values are formed in us from the day we are born, mostly by are parents ("you should not be doing that; that is BAD"; "You are so beautiful; you will be famous".), but also by peers, teachers, colleagues, and events in our lives. The interesting thing is that they are stored not in our conscious, reasoning mind, but in our subconscious, creative mind, so mostly we are not aware of what our values are -unless we start thinking about them. And as 95% of what we think and do is dictated by our subconscious beliefs, values determine our behaviour -and emotions- greatly, without us noticing much of it.
